FacePAD fixed for new Facbeook (v0.5.6)

Heya everyone,

I fixed the problem with FacePAD downloading only small thumbnails with all new (post March 1, 2009) albums. I’ve submitted the new version (v0.5.6) to Mozilla and the extension is awaiting approval in the queue. As always, this may take anywhere from 1 day up to a week to get through the queue, so please be patient.

Free Dropbox Account + Bonus Space

Hey everyone,

I’ve been using Dropbox for awhile, which is a free online storage website that gives you 2GB of space. If you join now (with this link: https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTEyMTMxOQ) you get and 250mb free! The great think about Dropbox is it’s syncing system which is built to work natively with your operating system, be it Windows, OSX, or Linux.

FacePAD downloading Small Thumbnails

Hey everyone,

I’ve received a lot of messages and emails recently about FacePAD downloading small thumbnails instead of full size pictures. The problem only affects albums created in the last week and all new albums that ahve been created after facebook rolled out it’s new design. The issue is as follows:

Old albums had the following format for pictures:

n123456789.jpg

New albums have the following format for pictures:

123456789_n.jpg

For some reason my wild-card approach at downloading pictures is only downloading thumbnails.

Just so you know, the problem is making the extension compatible with both file types. The upside is that all large pictures have an ‘n’ in the *.jpg filename, so exploiting that property is the best case scenario.

I’ll try to have a fix for this tonight.

Thank you everyone for bringing this to my attention!
